Orthodontic Brackets

Orthodontic brackets, commonly called “braces” act like cuffs on teeth. The wire, which is ligated to the self-ligating brackets without external attachment or elastic (hence the term self-ligating), applies pressure on the tooth to move it. These appliances that do not need external attachment (elastics) facilitate hygiene. Self-ligating brackets also reduce the duration of the orthodontic treatment and there is virtually no friction between the appliance and the wire.

The appliances that Dr. Normand Bach uses in his practice are all self-ligating appliances.
There is no difference between self-ligating metal appliances and transparent appliances, except that the transparent appliance is more attractive because it is less noticeable. They both have the same treatment duration.
Color elastics can also be applied to the braces, but only if the patient wants.
